How to get i2c working on hikey

Hi,
I want to register my device with i2c-0/1. I connected my device’s sclk and sda lines to I2C0_SCL & I2C0_SDA lines of 40-pin expansion header respectively. But i am not able to read anything from my device. Later i changed these connections to I2C1_SCL & I2C1_SDA. With these settings also i didn’t get any data. Are these lines disabled by default? If so, could someone help me to enable I2C0/1 in hi-key? How to bring up my device with hikey-i2c?

Thanks.
