SSD in ROCK960 / USB3.0 or MPCIE

I’ve been with rock960 in my hands for several days now. And after testing and testing, I have come to the conclusion that it is only feasible to work with the debian under emmc, since if we install it from a micro sd, the speed decreases considerably. And I wonder, since the memory of the rock960 is limited with only 16GB. There would be some possibility of being able to install both debian and ubuntu from an SSD drive or from the MPCIE port that carries the board.

The raspbian operating system can be installed to a ssd using noobs, from usb2.0.

In the Rock960 we have a usb3.0 port and an mpcie, I think we only have to vary the bootloader boot to port usb3.0 or mpcie.

Because you do not create an installer that lets install the operating system in an SSD, I think it would be beneficial for all users of the Rock960. The speed increases a lot with an SSD, and that makes you win a lot

Actually you can put the kernel and the rootfs in SSD and have the bootloader in eMMC. If you are interested, I can show you the instructions how to move the system to NVME SSD.

The truth is that I am very interested in knowing how to do it.

If you could indicate the steps or a tutorial, I would greatly appreciate it.

I’ve been thinking that I have an SSD drive with a USB3.0 adapter to SATA. And I thought that if you could add in the bootloader in the emmc, the boot for usb3.0.

If I could do it in both ways, it would be much better.

I have a question and I have been looking at m2 ssd nvme disks, but I do not know if this ssd of the link that I show will be compatible.

If I could look at it, it would do me a big favor.

Is there a list of discs that are not very long, for the pcie port of rock960 ?.

Thank you.

This one should work but we didn’t tested it.

Hipboi, do you have the instructions to install the debian through the USB 3.0 port?

Thanks.

Hello, what would be the process of migrating Debian to the nvme?
