Debian NodeJS update? - <strong>dragonboard</strong>410c - 96Boards Forum

Debian NodeJS update?

Hi,
I’ve just got my dragonboard 410c card and I’ve installed the Debian image…
It seems it comes with NodeJS v4.4.3 and I would like to update with the latest release (6 or 7).
I tried several methods but both of them failed. (I’m totally new with Debian).
Is there a specific guideline on this topic?

And another newbie question, what would be your advices between Debian & Ubuntu?

Thanks for your help.

The Debian image is based on Debian Jessie and there won’t be a Debian route to get this to work (it will stay on v4.4 until Debian Stretch is released.

If you want the very latest versions, best thing is (probably) to be to take the ARMv8 package from Download | Node.js (and share more detailed info if you need help problem solving  )

Debian… for the simple reason Linaro discontinued the Ubuntu image in 2015 (Canonical do make an up-to-date image but its an Ubuntu Core image rather than an Ubuntu desktop… might be worth a look if you don’t plan to use the desktop).

Many thanks for your reply…
A quick additional question :
Do you advice to uninstall the current version (node.js) before install the ARMv8 package?

Yes. That sounds like a good idea.
