Is it possible to Support exFat filesystem on SD cards?

Hi. We are wanting to support exFat filesystem on SD cards for our custom board that has a snapdragon 820 chip. It looks easy enough to add by installing exfat-fuse and exfat-utils. What I don’t know is if this is allowed per Microsoft patent described on this wikipedia page: exFAT - Wikipedia The “Other Implementations” section is hard to interpret. Is it allowed or not on our custom boards that we would be selling to our customers?
Thanks for any information,
Kim

I don’t think we can help much with this, it’s a question for your lawyers together with Microsoft and/or OIN.
